Cities Skylines 2 mods fix some of the worst traffic problems

Cities Skylines 2 as everyone knows post its launch was riddled with a hell lot of performance and gameplay bugs which was actually agreed upon by the developers of the game Colossal Order publicly post launch.

Cities Skylines 2

Me personally on an RTX 2060 haven’t yet been able to properly run the game yet however having played sim games like its predecessor and games like Tropico, I cannot give up on this. When the development team is slow on pushing out patches or content you have the modding community who come to the rescue as always. Heck sometimes it feels like they not releasing any new Elder’s Scroll post what I recently saw. Here I am covering some of the quality of life improvement mods that I think are must have for playing Cities Skylines 2.

Traffic Reduction by pangliang

This mod addresses the issue of thick, white traffic lines on roads in Cities Skylines 2, which are intended to illustrate where cars are traveling but can become an eyesore. The mod simplifies the appearance of roads by removing these lines.

Traffic Light Improvements by slyh

This is a more complex mod that overhauls all traffic lights in the game. It implements a split-phasing pattern for traffic lights, which assigns a movement window or phase to different lanes and traffic types, especially at intersections. This helps in reducing traffic blockages and improving the flow at intersections.

Extended Tooltip by 89pleasure

The Extended Tooltip mod for Cities Skylines 2 enhances the game’s interface by displaying detailed information about buildings, citizens, and other units directly in the mouse tooltip. It provides data such as citizen activity, happiness, education, company efficiency, employee details, and road maintenance information, making it easier for players to access critical game details without navigating through multiple menus.

Asset Editor Activator by HaxxOR1337

The Asset Editor Activator v1.0 mod for Cities Skylines 2 unlocks a hidden asset editor in the game, allowing for more personalized gameplay experiences. It automatically locates and sets up everything needed to use this editor.

The best part is whether you have the Steam version or a non-Steam installation of the game however I can’t personally confirm this as I have purchased this game via Steam. This tool simplifies the process of accessing and using the asset editor, enabling players to easily modify and enhance their creations within the game.

Is it worth playing Cities Skylines 2 or any game in general at launch ?

I mean if I look at the bulk of releases this year, except for a few games, most of them are launched in a broken state in terms of performance and gameplay. I still cannot release coaches in FC 24 nor change language without tinkering the launcher settings (let me know if anyone can even in recent patch it is not fixed at least for me).

I am kind ok with a game in playable state and then getting out patches to optimize things but not sure how long the gaming community will be ok with it. My opinion is go for the game after a few patches. Its better to wait for influx of reviews. I still regret my Mirage purchase.
