Various sources confirm Nicolo Fagioli got banned from playing football by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) in relation to the ongoing investigation to the gambling scandal involving multiple Serie A players.
At this point it feels like everyone League to compete with the Premiere League but in the wrong way. Feels like players following Balotelli’s footstep or maybe oil money getaway made everyone too comfortable. Well what can the next generation learn from this ? Money management and the importance of formal education.

FIGC Response to the Nicolo Fagioli Gambling problems and rehabilitation
I went through their website and found the following article related to his ban was found. The article mentions the following:
“The Federal Prosecution has reached an agreement with the footballer, Nicolò Fagioli, as a result of which, he will be sanctioned with a 12-month suspension, 5 of which will be commuted to rehabilitation along with a fine of 12,500 euros for violating Article 24 of the CGS that prohibits betting on football events organised by FIGC, UEFA and FIFA.
Regarding the alternative prescriptions, Fagioli will have to follow a therapy plan of at least six months and a cycle of at least 10 public meetings. These will be held over a period of 5 months, at amateur sports associations, territorial federal centres and centres for the recovery from gambling addiction, and in any case, according to the programme proposed by the FIGC.
The Federal Prosecutor’s Office will monitor his compliance with the above, and in the event of a violation of this agreement, will take measures within its jurisdiction, pursuant to the CGS. These measures would include termination of the agreement and the continuation of disciplinary proceedings before the judicial body of sporting justice.“
Updates on others involved in the gambling investigation
Its rumoured the numbers involved is in double digits how ever the notable nominees in this investigation apart from Nicolo Fagioli is Sandro Tonali and Nicolò Zaniolo. So what’s the updates on the other star boys.
Looks like they bet too hard as well. Newcastle United released a statement a few hours back confirming Tonali’s involvement in the investigation.
It is suggested that Tonali might be getting a harsher sentence of a 3 year ban from competitive football unless privilege ensures immunity. The statement from the club mentions as follows:
“Newcastle United can confirm that Sandro Tonali is subject to investigation by the Italian Prosecutor’s Office and Italian Football Federation (FIGC) in relation to illegal betting activity.
Sandro is fully engaging with the investigation and will continue to cooperate with all relevant authorities.
He and his family will continue to receive the club’s full support.
Due to this ongoing process, Sandro and Newcastle United are unable to offer further comment at this time.“
Juventus seems to be associated with the most problematic players at the club giving tough competition to Man United at the moment. Even their rosters intersect in some instances.
Statement from Nicolo Fagioli
Seems like he had taken loans from players in order to payoff his addiction and loan sharks.
“[Juventus team-mate Federico] Gatti lent me the money which I have not yet returned and which he is still asking for back. Another loan was made to me by [ex-Juve youth star Radu] Dragusin, currently registered for Genoa… and by some friends from Piacenza. Again of €40,000, also credited via bank transfer to the jewellery shop where I bought the luxury watches to be delivered to the platform managers.
Conclusion
Well its sad as I have mentioned a lot of times its sad. These players are younger than me and I am still in the hustle mode trying to improve myself. What kind of lifestyle are they promoting among each other ? Had they not been caught, they would have continued the same. Are they sorry that they are caught or are they sorry about their mistakes is the question we should be asking. Self destructive attitude is being promoted over self preservation.
