In the One Piece world, a pirate group quietly pulls the strings and makes clever moves. It’s the Red Hair Pirates, led by the formidable Akagami Shanks. They’re among the mightiest pirate crews in the anime and hold the prestigious title of being an Emperor’s crew.
One noteworthy member of the Red Hair Pirates is Yasopp, a name you might recognize. That’s because he’s Usopp’s father from the Straw Hat Pirates. Before joining Shanks’ crew, Yasopp was a renowned sniper. His journey with the Red Hair Pirates began when Shanks recruited him during a visit to Syrup Village.

Introduction
He was born in Syrup Village, which was in the East Blue. Later, he married Bachina, and their happy union had a son named Usopp.
Despite his satisfaction, he daydreamed of becoming a pirate but lacked the motivation to do it. His chance came when Shanks hired him at the start of Shanks’ pirate adventure. Afterwards, he bid farewell to his home and became the sharpshooter of the Red Hair Pirates.
As a member of one of the Yonko’s crews, Yasopp is a mighty pirate. He constantly stands by his captain’s side and holds a prominent position as one of the Red Hair Pirates’ officers.
Yasopp & Bachina
He married Bachina, and they had a son named Usopp. He always dreamed of living the rest of his life as a pirate sailing the seas in his happy moments, but he lacked the determination to make his fantasy a reality. After that, he was chosen by Shanks, who was just beginning out as a pirate.
His wife Bachina did not hold him back and instead encouraged him to pursue his aspirations despite the fact that she was suffering from a serious illness.
Yasopp & Red Hair Pirates
He met Shanks in Syrup Village two years after the execution of Gol D. Roger. Shanks had heard about Yasopp’s sniper abilities and invited him to join his crew.
He and his men also took part at Marineford, when he witnessed his Captain end the war. He also challenged Blackbeard and his men, pointing his weapon at sniper Van Augur of the Blackbeard Pirates.
His Connection With Luffy
He and his crew met Luffy, who would later become his son Usopp’s captain when Luffy was a child in Foosha Village. During this visit, he told Luffy stories about his son Usopp and stated his desire to see him again in the future.
Luffy was tired of hearing these stories, leading Yasopp to place a drinking glass on Luffy’s head before launching into another.
What is his bounty?
While the exact amount of Yasopp bounty is unknown, it is likely that it exceeds 500 million berries, which is typical of Yonko Commander bounties. He’s developed a reputation as an excellent sharpshooter, widely regarded as the greatest in the One Piece world.
Father & Son Bond
Usopp knows little about his father other than that he was a part of Shanks’ pirate crew. Despite leaving Usopp as a baby to pursue a life of pirates, Yasopp has genuine compassion for his son.
Usopp reciprocates this passion, as he deeply loves, admires, respects, and takes great pleasure in his father’s pirate identity. When Kuro made a dig at Yasopp, Usopp retaliated with a hard punch, underlining that he would never lie about his father’s identity and that being a pirate’s son was his most treasured source of pride.
Usopp inherited his father’s outstanding talents, including sniping and exceptional shooting. His affection and admiration for his father are unshakeable.
